My wife and I recently stayed in the one-bed house at Borghetta Calchinaia and enjoyed 10 days of wonderful early-October sunshine, combined with all the benefits of being slightly out of season: easy accss to the best retaurants (of which there are many close by) and to view the beautiful hill-top towns with their stupendous art; plus the over-abundance of fresh seasonal foods and wines.
The property has been lovingly restored, to the highest modern standards and sits in a beautiful garden with stunning views over the lake and surrounding hills.

“On a Tuscan hill”

We have recently returned from a two week stay at Borghetto Calcinaia. The house is perfectly situated on a hill above a lake in an area of great beauty, within easy reach both of national parks and of enchanting local hill top towns (Anghiari, Sansepolcro, Arezzo and Monterchi). It has everything that one might expect of a high grade Tuscan villa - the generous pool surrounded by olive trees, the gracious rooms with high ceilings, the terrace with its shaded dining table - but two features are absolutely outstanding and make it unique in our experience. A perfect place, with perfect hosts, in Tuscany

We (a family of 4 with children of 6 and 3) have just returned from a perfect holiday - a mix of lazy days around the pool, good meals in the many excellent local restaurants, and sightseeing trips - at Borghetto Calcinaia in the country near Anghiari and Sansepolcro in Tuscany. The house is beautiful, has plenty of room (4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, a comfortable lounge, a well-equipped kitchen), is very well-furnished, and has everything you will need and more for a relaxing stay. The Beavers and Wives

We booked this villa for a holiday in Tuscany as a group of friends with the expectation of having a good time in pleasant surroundings. What we got was the most amazing week with fabulous hosts, great place to stay, wonderful weather and outstanding food. We all loved it without exception. The standard of accommodation is second to none. Dennis and Gilly's passion for the place which is their home is reflected in the welcome they extend to their guests and their attention to detail in what is provided. The welcome dinner cooked by Gilly is highly recommended, as is the service from a visiting chef and Lena who patiently taught us how to make pasta. Read More…

Every bit of a dream

As many American's do, especially those with some Italian heritage, we dream of being in a villa in Tuscany. Last year, I approached 8 of my friends about staying at this spot outside Anghiari the last week of May. From the moment of our arrival to the sad departure,(no one wanted to leave) everything was more than a dream come true. Dennis and Gilly, our hosts, were most attentive to the group and made sure we knew how and where we were going. Read More…

From the Ten Who Fell in Love With PAM

The Borghetto Calcinaia is a fabulous villa smack in the middle of the beautiful Tuscany region of Italy. The amenities of the villa are top flight and the neighboring towns of Anghiari and Sansepolcro, along with the countryside, will give you a sense of what this part of Italy was like four or five hundred years ago. But as rewarding as all that is, perhaps the best part of the stay was being introduced to Dennis and Gilly, two of the most generous and delightful hosts you'll ever encounter.

Our Italian Spring Break

My first glimpses of Lake Montedoglio and Borghetto Calcinaia were beyond all expectations: tranquil, verdant and inviting.
The remainder of our week lived up to its initial promise. Casa Mandorlo, spring-break home to my five companions and myself, proved charmingly rustic with all of the mod cons we could have wished for: great power showers for each of the four bedrooms; comfortable sofas nestled around the fireplace; sport TV for the boys; And yes, hair dryers that really worked and quality bedding that made us feel we were in a five-star hotel.
