We are seasoned VRBO travelers, having used this site for family vacation bookings for over 12 years. Always had a wonderful experience with the properties and the owners. This trip, and getting to meet Dennis and Gilly, made it the most memorable trip we have had. The property is simply unbelievable!! Set in the quaint countryside of Tuscany, its charm is evident as you round the corner on the road and see it sitting on the hillside overlooking the lake. A gorgeous mood setter!
Every detail has been thought of. The compound has such a charm to it, especially the stone architecture, olive trees and serene setting. Upon arrival, we knew we had stepped back into a quieter more relaxed era and felt the stress melt away. Being greeted by Dennis and Gilly, as well as their two great dogs Carina and Scotty, made us feel at home. The farmhouse is stunning, updated, quaint and charming. Everything you need is there - plenty of room for everyone, 4 baths, and a fully equipped kitchen. The views of the pool, lake and surrounding hills are magnificent. We spent the rest of the first day sitting outside just soaking it all in!! The location is perfect. Close by are the ancient towns of Anghiari and Sansepolcro. Lots to do in each, plenty of restaurants, shopping and outdoor markets. We drove throughout the area, exploring Arezzo, Pisa, Lucca, Cortona, Siena, and mutiple other small villages. We also used the train from Arezzo to go to Florence and then to Rome for several days. You can see it all from here.
Regarding Dennis and Gilly - the best hosts ever!! Amazingly friendly people that welcomed us before we arrived by making everything so easy and simple. Really genuine people with great hearts - and it shows in how they prepare for your arrival, greet you and make it a priority that you are enjoying the place - always making certain you are taken care of. They did so many extraordinary things for us - it just made everything so pleasant. We left having made some new friends.
We would recommend this location and the hospitality of Dennis and Gilly to anyone considering a trip to Tuscany. Fantastic on all levels. Our only sad memory was having to see it disappear from our view as we left.
